Stretch BEFORE You Swing
Tap into your potential with warm-up stretches on the range before you swing the club. Prepare your body with dynamic movements through ranges of motion that wake-up the muscles, nerves and mind for power and confidence. Skipping the warm-up can mean bad shots and injury risks on the first holes. Here are 5 simple stretches to get you in the game.
Forward Lean on Club
With outstretched arms on the top of club, hinge over at the hip to stretch and reach the arms out to stretch the hamstrings, hips, back and shoulders. Keep your knees, back and arms straight so the hips and shoulders will feel the stretch. Repeat 5 – 8 times exhaling as you reach.
Deep Squat with Arm Reach
Squat down as low as possible and take the club to the ground then stand tall and reach arms overhead and back while opening the chest and shoulders. Repeat for 5 – 8 repetitions.
Hip Figure 4
While holding the club with one or two hands, stand on one foot and cross the leg to form a figure 4. Then squat down to set your hip back and maintain the figure 4. Do 5 – 8 squats and repeat on the other leg.
Hip Twister
While holding top of the club with two hands and maintaining a triangular-shaped arm and shoulder position, slowly rotate hips right and left. Repeat 5 – 8 times to feel the separation of the hips and low back from the upper torso.
Golf Posture Rotational Steps
Set up in your golf posture (use club to find a neutral spine) and reach the arms out while holding the ends of the club. Rotate and shift weight to your right and left side while maintaining the golf posture spine angle. Do 5 – 10 rotations in both directions.
Now you are ready to practice and play!
